Heeding Leslie's advice about changing the tacky intro font to something else, I've gone with "cracked". I was a little worried before that it would look a little too X Games for my "scary" movie, but then I realized how precious the wolves look, and I decided it didn't really matter. It's coming up on crunch time for getting things done, and I'm not sure I'm going to finish on time. There are just not enough hours in a day to get Flash movies done. It doesn't help that I forgot my headphones and can't work on the sound. Oh well...

PROGRESS!!!!

Well, son, I've done it! I've made progress!!! Boosh. I've got a lot of the sound effects that I was having problems with earlier under control, and I'm really happy with the way they fit with the visuals so far. The "scary wolf" is lookin' a little too cute still, but at least I know what I'm doing! I wonder if there's a spookifying trick to doing things in Flash that would make wolfie a little more vicious. Who knows. For now, he's a smooth little pup with a whining problem. Some day, he'll be a beast!

proooooolly screwed...

So, in a moment of "can't sleep! time to panic!" this weekend, I decided I would have to scrap all of my original cool ideas for the sake of saving time. This means no bitmap images! I'm not too sad about this, since it was taking me a long time to get the images that I wanted to use, and when  I did, I couldn't get them to do what I want. Plus, I've never used the drawing tools in Flash to create anything before, so I thought it would be a nice time to start. This has really helped so far, since I've made a major leap forward compared to my former snail's pace bitmaps were making me take. I'm going to have an actual storyboard for class tomorrow, and most likely TONS of questions.
I've never been savvy at linking up sounds with images (notice that my only Flash animation is a silent film *cough*), and I'm still a little confused as to how that all works. Every time I go into Soundtrack Pro, it's made glaringly obvious to me that this is a program that already assumes you understand all of the cool, techno soundboard lingo. Well, I don't, so it's been a fun experience of opening the program, fiddling with things, getting pissed off, and shutting the program with a promise of revenge. Maybe we can work it out, but it will be with a mutual understanding of dislike.

THE BEGINNING OF THE FLASH NIGHTMARE!!!! BOO!

I'm trying to represent two nightmares in my next project using Flash. I'm not really that super in Flash, and I've already had to cut down my overly-ambitious idea of making 3 movies, but hopefully what I'm trying to do will turn out alright. I'm at the collecting data (pictures) stage of my project, so there isn't a whole lot to discuss right now. This weekend it's going to be *snap snap*! Later!

PROGRESS and my sister the beer wench...

wee for progress! i'm steadily hacking and slashing my way through the jungle of behaviors i'm using for my site, and i'm almost done with creating my pictures! woosh! for some reason i'm having a little trouble with some of the show/hide elements, but i should be able to figure them out. now if i could only find the hotspots...hmm...

AFTER!-->                                                                                                            <--Before (blah)

FORMATTING! WHOOSH!

today has been super-sweet in the way of productivity. i turned my friend miyako into a cartoon for my website, i reformatted a couple of things that were giving me problems (with leslie's helpful hints from our meeting on saturday), and basically got a lot done. i'm hoping that by turning the phrase links from .pdf to .doc files, i'm not creating a broken link. i'd really like for people to write their own poems based on the line's their given. when they pick the phrase they like from the text bubbles of the characters, it would be super-easy if it just opened up to a word file that they could play with as they please (within reason). oh well, i have my fingers crossed! XP

guh...formatting...guh...

so...today has been informative, as well as a little frustrating. I'm happy that we were introduced to spry elements since I wanted to do something a little interactive and fun on the index page to my website, but i'm still having formatting problems that have spread like a fungus from my index page RIGHT INTO a couple of my other pages. i dunno why dreamweaver wants my blood, i'm just trying to get the project done. so, thanks to the spry element tutorial, i now have a dancing bean on my text page! whoo! unfortunately, floating the div tags on my site has thus-far proven a problem. it's kicking my butt, but it LOOKS SO COOL!!! (when it works). touche, float, touche.

^Here's my little toaster buddy i made for my site. i figured this blog needed more pics, so...*bam*!

photoshop fun!

i've spent a lot of time in the lab so far making my pictures in photoshop. since i had a break between my 200 level class and this class (2 semesters!) it took me a little time to get reacquainted with the photoshop program. i'm having fun making the pictures and creating the poems that will become part of the interactive portion of my website. so far, i've turned my friend jenni into a lichtenstein-esque girl, and transformed a human "housewife" in the same way. it's kinda freaky to see your friends turn into cartoons. luckily, jenni liked it, so no worries. i'm going to save showing the pictures until my website's done though. i'd hate to ruin the surprise!

away on a speeding camel...right into a tree.

having taken on the rather ambitious task of creating a complex site in a program i don't fully grasp, i'm not surprised that my minimal skills in Dreamweaver are beginning to drag me down. :( poo. hopefully, when Leslie and I meet tomorrow, some of my questions will be cleared up. as of now, however, my butt is kicked.

thus far, i've managed to create the site layout of the main page and link it to others that i have barely started creating. i have been messing around with creating random characters for my site. i even created a bean as one of my "poets". (pictured at left)

behaviors are going to get messy later on, but for now it's nice to just click on a bean and have a message bubble pop up!
